There are several reasons why you may want to remove a photo from the popular Google image search engine:
- It’s porn
- Someone has stolen your copyright photo/image and is displaying it on their site
- You just don’t like the image showing up in Google
- Photo shows child abuse
- Photo or image of your hand written signature
So lets go through the five most common types of removal request:
1) It’s Porn
Google doesn’t allow you to remove pornographic images from the unfiltered main search results. You can request that they remove such content from the filtered (moderate or strict) results though.
You have two options:
Click “report offensive images” at the bottom of the search results page.
Use the Google removal tool, input the url and select “inappropriate content appears in our Safesearch filtered results”
Remember, this option in the tool only removes content from the Safesearch filtered results.
2) Someone Has Stolen Your Copyright work
I have already created a page that deals with copyright infringements and how to remove links from Google.
3) You Just Don’t Like The Image Showing up in Google
If you see an image that you just don’t like then your best bet is to contact the site owner and ask him/her to remove it from the website. Not just from the page, but from the whole site (removed from the server). You can then use Google’s removal tool to expedite the removal process. Always ask the site owner to remove the page and leave behind a 404 (page not found error), if they put a redirect in place you may have problems using the tool.
4) Abuse of Children
Here is the official Google page where you can report child abuse photos that appear in the search results:
5) Remove Image of Hand Written Signature
